Training for running

Training with a Running Coach

A KT Fitness running coach can provide training for runners of all abilities. Whether you’re a beginner, an elite athlete or you may have an upcoming running event we can help you to improve your style, speed, strengthen and stability.

At the start of the process you have an assessment with our experienced running coach through our business partner Paragon Physiotherapy. Once assessed, runners go through a strength and conditioning phase where they are given exercises to improve their current technique with their own strength and conditioning coach.

For runners it is essential to target specific muscles to change running style so that running becomes more efficient and pain free. Increasing the strength of the muscles of the lower limbs and hips helps runners to achieve this. Alongside strength training there is also a focus on running technique and drills in order to increase speed and therefore reduce running times.

Below is one of the stability tests called the running man test. This entails standing on one leg and reaching forward as slowly as possible. This test can be quite a challenge however this is a good indicator of your current level of stability.

We currently have had huge success with this program and want to reach out to others within the running population as the results have had significant benefits for our current running clients, some of which attend local running clubs such as Keighley and Craven Athletics Club and Skipton Athletics Club.

We are very passionate about helping individuals to reach their potential injury free. The Run England initiative has been excellent for encouraging individuals to become more active. Our aim is to encourage all runners of all abilities to improve their own personal best.
